about us
Stubbi & Co Limited were formed in 2003 to try and bring practical solutions to environmental problems. The Stubbi pouch was piloted the same year on golf courses in Portugal and following the introduction of the smoking ban in public places in Ireland it was supported by the Dublin Tourist Board.
The Stubbi anti cigarette butt pouch was adopted by the Greater London Authority as part of Mayor Ken Livingstone's Capital Standards clean streets campaign in 2004. Faced with the challenge of chewing gum litter we have gone on to design the Stubbi combination pouch. This pouch contains Stubbi gum papers that are used to wrap and store gum. The fireproof papers mean that the pouch can be used to store both cigarette butts and chewing gum until they can be safely disposed of in a bin.
In January 2005 we were invited to attend a meeting of the Chewing Gum Action Group hosted by the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs and showed them for the first time the anti litter pouch we had developed. This has now been taken up for use in their anti gum pilot study in Manchester and Maidstone.
We are currently working with Defra and ENCAMS (the charity behind the Keep Britain Tidy campaign) in other studies in the use of the anti litter pouch throughout the UK.
As anti litter fines are becoming more common local authorities around the country have taken up the Stubbi pouch in a variety of ways. Some hand them out instead of fines for a first offence, others sell them or hand them out in the street.
